Crisis Management

Introduction and purpose of the module

The main purpose of the module is to comprehensively, theoretically and practically prepare the participants to effectively manage and coordinate activities aimed at minimizing and mitigating the immediate effects of crisis situations. The program covers a wide range of threats occurring both within the borders of the country and in the international environment. Emergencies caused by both destructive forces of nature and those that are a direct result of human activity, which directly undermine the stability of public security and general security, are analyzed.

Competency profile of the participant

As part of the module, participants will acquire unique knowledge and competencies necessary to perform various administrative, expert and managerial functions at management levels in government administration, local government, as well as in economic and socio-political life. In an era of progressing European integration and dynamic and often unpredictable processes of globalization, the program provides tools to smoothly navigate international response procedures.

During the course of the studies participants:

  • will learn the principles of operation of leading security actors in states of emergency and general threats as well as the methodology of efficient crisis management,
  • will explore the issues of managing the safety of citizens during natural disasters, humanitarian and technical disasters and protecting business continuity,
  • will understand the organizational structure, competencies and tasks of security and crisis management units at local and central levels, as well as the principles of cooperation between individual emergency services, law enforcement and public institutions,
  • will acquire specialist knowledge in the area of international humanitarian aid, developmental support and legal and formal aspects of national and international security,
  • will develop practical skills to efficiently identify, monitor and immediately and accurately assess emerging threats, as well as to estimate the associated risks on a micro and macro scale (from the local and regional level, through the national level, to the global dimension).
